From Notes to Lecture

Today, I want to share an important moment in my academic life. My first time presenting my PhD research to undergraduate students. It was special because I had the chance to talk about my own research to a group of students genuinely interested in the topic.

For more than two hours, we talked about the history of China, Chinese cinema from the early 20th century, and the political changes of the time. I also talked a bit about Confucius, Mao, and some mythology. It was amazing to see that the students were really paying attention. I could see the excitement in their eyes.

At the start of the class, we had a technical problem. The internet connection failed, so I could not show some movies and pictures I had prepared. But, in the end, this made our conversation even deeper, because we talked more than I had planned.

For me, this was a very special moment. I was really happy to talk about something that is so important to me, and to see people who wanted to listen. Even with the problems, I felt proud and satisfied. I think I finished an important step in my academic journey.

I wanted to write about this because, even if it was a simple thing, it really touched me.

If you want to read the text I prepared for the class, you can check it out here. The text is in Portuguese, but I'll prepare an English version soon and share it here on the blog.
